Dear Parents,
If you think your kids might have an interest in serving at the Altar, I invite you to have them read the following:
Do you want a special opportunity to serve God and grow deeper in your faith? Would you be excited play an important role in the most important thing we do as Catholics -- the Holy Mass? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be close to the altar while the priest calls down the Holy Spirit upon gifts of bread and wine, and they become the Body and Blood of Jesus? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, I would invite you to consider being an altar server. Being an altar server is about much more than making the priest's job easier! It is about helping people to pray, by serving with reverence and awareness of God's presence. We are looking for kids who want to serve with excellence, and who desire to deepen their faith. If that sounds like you, then maybe God is calling you to serve at the altar!
I will lead a brief information session for kids in grades 3-8 (and their parents) on Thursday, August 29th at 5:30 PM, at Fatima Hall. During this session, I will explain a bit more about what kind of commitment altar serving entails.. If you and your child decide that it is a good fit, you will be invited to sign up for altar server training. The schedule for that will be established once we know how many kids are interested; but it will most likely consist of 2 to 3 evening training sessions.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. I hope to see many of you soon! Please RSVP by emailing Maura Polles, Director of Faith Formation. MPolles@FalmouthCatholic.org
